In Milestone 1, I shared my role as a medical professor responsible for designing college assignments, conducting lectures, evaluating student performance, and providing feedback. Additionally, I mentioned that my goal is to create meaningful assessments that enhance students’ understanding and prepare them for their future medical careers.

Over the past few weeks, my individual views have not changed significantly. However, I have deepened my understanding of the importance of providing constructive feedback to students. I have come to realize that feedback plays a crucial role in shaping students’ learning experiences and promoting their growth and development. By offering specific and actionable feedback, I can encourage students to reflect on their performance, identify areas for improvement, and ultimately enhance their skills and knowledge.

An experience from my previous workplace that relates to this is when I noticed the impact of timely and targeted feedback on student motivation and engagement. While teaching a medical course, I implemented a feedback system that involved regular assessments and individualized feedback. Students appreciated and valued the feedback provided as it allowed them to track their progress, address their weaknesses, and set goals for improvement. I observed that this approach not only increased their motivation to learn but also fostered a positive learning environment where students felt supported and encouraged to excel. This experience reinforced my belief in the significance of feedback in the educational process and solidified my commitment to providing effective feedback in my current role as a medical professor.
