Health & Medical Hypertension in Older Adults Presentation Nursing Assignment Help

Write about one of this health conditions: Hyperlipidemia, Hypertension, COPD,

This assignment entails the development of a narrated (voiceover) PowerPoint Presentation (PPP) on a cardiovascular health problem among older adults. Under the ‘notes’ section of each slide, please write your narration.

Please use the following criteria to develop your PPP:

Introductory slide with at least 2 presentation objectives

Provide an overview of health conditions among older adults (i.e. Hyperlipidemia, Hypertension, COPD, etc.)

Provide an overview of the cardiovascular system in older adults

Discuss factors that contribute to the changes in the myocardium and show an image of the changes

Discuss two age-associated changes in arterial structure and function and subsequent cardiac conditions (i.e. electrocardiogram changes, left ventricular changes, heart failure and myocardial infarction, conduction and beta-adrenergic changes, etc.)

One health condition that I will discuss in this assignment is Hypertension.

Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is a common health condition among adults, particularly older adults. It is characterized by persistently elevated blood pressure levels, which can lead to various complications if left unmanaged.

The cardiovascular system in older adults undergoes certain changes that can contribute to the development of hypertension. Factors such as age-related stiffness in the arteries, reduced elasticity of blood vessels, and increased peripheral vascular resistance can all contribute to higher blood pressure levels. In addition, age-associated changes in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system can also play a role in the development of hypertension in older adults.

These changes in the myocardium and arterial structure and function can lead to several cardiac conditions. Electrocardiogram changes, left ventricular hypertrophy, heart failure, and myocardial infarction are some of the potential consequences of untreated hypertension in older adults. Conduction abnormalities and alterations in beta-adrenergic receptor function may also occur, further contributing to cardiovascular complications.

In conclusion, hypertension is a significant health condition among older adults, and understanding the changes in the cardiovascular system that contribute to its development is crucial. By recognizing these age-related changes and their potential consequences, healthcare professionals can effectively manage hypertension and mitigate its associated risks.
